As you all may know, muBlinder does not handle support for OGA (Office Genuine Advantage)

By posting in this forum, you will be able to download all your Office Addons, Updates, etc.

Heres All You Need To Do:
  • Show the link to the update/addon you require
  • Tell us which language you would like it in (eg. English, Spanish...)
  • Expect a reply in this topic soon after!
Enjoy recieving office updates!

Just want to add, although muBlinder does not support OGA, you can still get Office Updates by going to Microsoft Update (not Windows Update) through muBlinder smile.gif

Yes, this latest update is going to be requested by anyone who uses Outlook 2007 I'm SURE!! I'm looking for the English version myself which happens to be the name of the file that you've requested. The download link is here:

Update for Outlook 2007

If anyone has the "direct" link it would greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You will find a direct link in this post.

I think the file is the same for any language version of Outlook 2007.

Now I am very confused blink.gif . muBlinder does not support OGA, but you can get Office Updates through muBlinder? Isn't this contradictory?

Well, I went through the muBlinder browser, but "validation failed".

Not to sound ungrateful, but what is this post supposed to mean?

thanks

The Outlook 2003 junk filter update I need is KB932330, which can be found on the page:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/download...0798691033.aspx

(note there is one update a month - would the method work on all months? I would like to also get the previous months.)

THANKS !! rolleyes.gif

Let's see if we can clear up the confusion here. Microsoft uses WGA at Windows Update site and at Microsoft Update site. If you use The Microsoft Update site then you should be offered updates for Office if it is installed on your computer.

If you visit Download Center (as in the link provided by 3rdCulture), or the Office Update site, and try to download a protected Office update or add-on, then Microsoft uses OGA to check whether your Windows is genuine.

muBlinder deals with WGA but not with OGA. This topic exists for members who would like a protected Office update or add-on which they are not offered at Microsoft Update for whatever reason.

The Outlook 2003 junk filter update requested by 3rdCulture is out of date. The file needed is described here. It is KB934708. Each update of this type replaces the previous update, so this is the current Outlook 2003 junk filter. Use this direct link to download the update.

Yes yes yes ! It worked. Thanks snodger and thank you.

So I wonder if next month I need to bug people again on the update? Can I just modify the direct link?

You know, I dont feel bad, unsure.gif cause MS owns and controls 90% of desktops and is a monopoly. They use their power to stifle competition and leech themselves onto users, in that process ruining many lives. They are engaged in huge unfair practices against the interest of users. They have no competition to keep them honest and responsible. They owe us more than we owe them, by far.

OK, let me explain the source of the confusion regarding MS Updates.

In order to see the office updates (and window updates?) in MS Update, one needs to install WGA Validation (WGAV) and execute it.

Nowhere in muBlinder does it say if we should install WGAV or not. Intuitively, one would NOT want to install WGAV. But apparantly I have deduced by way of reasoning that you want us to install WGAV. If only your documentation would clarify this at the very beginning (and not hidden somewhere in the 135 page of comments). It would be nice if the muBlinder application would say on the frontpage: "First install WGAV and validate".

So I went ahead, while cowering in fear, and installed WGAV. Lo and behold, the office updates showed up. So I assume I did something right. Frankly I am still not sure - is muBlinder going to keep on working, or did I break muBlinder beyond repair?

thanks anyways, and I hope this helps

Modifying the link is not possible but, if you ask again next month, someone will probably be around to provide a direct link for you.

The conclusion I come to here is that you have not read the muBlinder User Guide. I quote from the third paragraph of the Guide.

"You must have the Validation tool (ActiveX), preferably the up-to-date version, installed on your computer. You cannot use Microsoft Update or download programs such as WMP11 and IE7 from their Download Center unless you have the Validation tool installed on your computer. This is a mandatory condition imposed by Microsoft on XP users, irrespective of the validity status of their Product Key."

If you can suggest any way in which I can make it clearer than that, then I should be happy to consider it.

Also, having the WGA validation ActiveX installed is mentioned repeatedly in the Validation section of the User Guide.

Not to dispute or argue, but the above paragraph simply says that WGAV is needed for MS Update. We already know this. It does not say, you still need it with muBlinder. The first impression of a user is that muBlinder works by substituting itself for WGAV, and WGAV being a one-time procedure that registers a person permanently and negatively with MS, should not be attempted, lest it will break muBlinder by telling MS update server to ignore any update requests from a certain computer with a certain validation key serial number.

If you do not have the WGA ActiveX validation tool installed on your computer, then you should see the message in the image below. Click on the link to the 'Why Validate' page and install the ActiveX. .....If you have the version of Microsoft's WGA Validation tool on your computer that muBlinder v3.5 was designed to deal with, then you should see the message shown in the image below.

The above is from further down the Guide. It is a bit more clearer. But there are several problems. For one, it says "install", but it does not say "activate" or execute it. The user is never sure if he has to execute, and whether he will lose validation if he does it wrong. So the safe thing is not to validate. Second, it does not say clearly and unambigiously "you need to install WGAV and execute it for muBlinder to work". It gives a more procedural instruction, and I find it confusing in that where it says "install the ActiveX", it is not clear if it is the WGAV ActiveX or the "why validate" ActiveX (there is no reason to assume the why validate link is not another ActiveX).

In other words, if the Guide would explain the model, in addition to giving instructions, then that would certainly be bulletproof for people like myself. Writing techdoc has never been easy. The reader generally knows a lot less than the writer assumes. -best and thanks
